While I love teaching English here at HCC, I have many outside interests, including photography. I get a lot of joy out of practicing on a secondhand Canon 20D that my son gave me for my birthday last year. As a rank beginner, I spend most of my photography time trying out different techniques. The technique I used for these photographs is called long exposure. In long exposure, you go out at night, set up your camera, and slow down its shutter speed for long periods of time so that the camera can capture more light without the use of a flash.
What I like about these images is that they bring together three of my favorite things: photography, abstraction, and nature. I took these in Salzburg, Austria last July, and I also like that Mount Untersberg is visible in the background of the second photo.
